FACT SHEET

Rising Star Farms Foundation:

  • Is a "National Heritage Foundation" whose goal is to place persons with special needs on and around horses in programs that are specialized for the individual.

  • Is a North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) Premier Accredited Center whose facilities meet NARHA Standards and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.

  • Structures individualized programs for riders/participants.  These programs are versatile and designed to fit specific needs according to doctor/therapist recommendations and the goals of the riders/participants and/or their parents/guardians.

  • Matches the riders needs with the horse's gait.  Example: a rider with a high tone (tense) muscles matches with a smooth gaited horse, whereas a horse with a choppy gait would work well with a low tone (little or no muscle tone) rider.

  • Horses must have a good temperament and maintain a fearlessness for distractions.  Various situations are simulated, including seizures on horseback, before a horse is ready for use at the center.  Training is extensive and on-going.

  • Is Volunteer driven and safety is a priority.  There is one certified emergency medical technician (EMT) and two certified emergency-certified assistants (ECAs) on site.

  • Is open during normal business hours and after hours, and on weekends by appointment.
